Proposition 65

Proposition 65

Proposition 65 Information and Warning Language

IMI Precision Engineering is aware of its responsibility to the environment and the health of workers and citizens. Fundamentally, our objectives are to reduce the content of hazardous substances in end products, and to ensure that our customers are provided with the information they need to assist in their compliance with Prop 65 and other Environmental, Health and Safety regulations globally.

Prop 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about exposure to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. These chemicals can be in products in their homes or work places, or that are released to the environment. By requiring that this information be provided, Prop 65 enables Californians to make informed decisions about their exposures to these chemicals.

Finished product manufacturers may comply with Prop 65 either by providing a clear and reasonable warning concerning an exposure to a listed chemical or they may perform a risk assessment. No warning need be given if a proper risk assessment demonstrates that the exposure is below certain levels that the law says do not require a warning. Many of the substances listed under Prop 65 have been routinely used in everyday consumer items for years without documented harm, and the requirement to provide warnings does not mean that the products that contain them are unsafe when used as intended.

Some IMI Precision Engineering companies including Norgren, Inc. and its affiliate products contain substances that are listed under Prop 65. IMI has chosen to provide Prop 65 warnings for particular parts to assist our customers with their compliance efforts. IMI products are sold to a variety of customers and distributors for many uses. We have chosen to provide a warning when we are aware of the presence of a listed chemical in our products. We have not evaluated whether users are actually exposed to the chemical or whether any exposures exceed the level at which a warning is required. To assist us in assessing the presence of Prop 65 chemicals, we utilize a third-party compliance firm to diligently gather, track and validate chemical information on parts, materials and components used in life science applications or the food or beverage industry.
